Cloth bags distribution




The students of B. Tech (Energy and Environmental Engineering) of Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, organized an event which has been a war footing drive to sensitize on the ill effects and environmental hazards of using plastic bags. This special effort called for peoples’ attention to use cloth bags and they were given away with cloth bags in Town hall and its periphery on 9th August 2014.   It was a forerunner attempt for the “Ecofest’14 – A New Outlook for Sustenance” – 8th National Level Symposium.

The event mustered a huge strength of 100 volunteers representing the engineering college of TNAU, who distributed around 2000 cloth bags to the public, as a step up effort. The volunteers also collected plastic bags in the surrounding areas and disposed them in a safe manner. Lot of appreciation was received from various quarters of public on this eventful day. Ultimately the event garnered a grand success and brought high quantum of perceptive changes in the mindset of the public.

Dr. C. Divaker Durairaj, the Dean, Agricultural Engineering, and the event coordinator Dr.Balaji Kannan, Asst. Prof. (Dept. of RS&GIS) motivated the volunteers with good spirit and for the programme’s stupendous success.

Green brains'14 contest

B. Tech (Energy and Environmental Engineering) and B. Tech (Food Processing Engineering) students of Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, conducted a district level drawing and model presentation contest “GREEN BRAINS’14“on 20th July 2014. This event was conducted as a forerunner to”Ecofest’14 – A New Outlook for Sustenance” – 8th National Level Symposium.

The event turned into a grand success mustering nearly 250 students representing schools in and around the city, displaying their creativity and showcasing their talents in an enthusiastic manner. The students were grouped into four categories of which drawing contained two categories and model contained two categories. The themes for the Drawing competition were Green India in 2030; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Global warming & Climate change. Various models were displayed on the topics, Green innovations, Hybrid energy systems and Waste to wealth.

Mr.Elangovan (University Photographer), Dr.A.Surendra Kumar (Professor, AMRC), Dr.Balakrishnan (Assistant Professor, F & APE) adjudged the participants and the results were declared. D. Shreya (IV-A) Einstein public school (D1 category), Mehak Khemka (VIII-B) Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan MHSS (D2 category), K. S. Keerthiga, K. Harini Sankari – Sri Avinashilingam H.S.S. for girls (M1 category), Mathiyarasi. A., Rashichka D.S –Chavara Vidhya Bavan M.H.S.S. (M2 category) were selected the winners respectively. Dr. C. Divaker Durairaj, the Dean, Agricultural Engineering, motivated the students with good spirit and for a healthy competitive note. Event coordinator Dr.Balaji Kannan presided over and supported the organizers in all means. The prize winners will be honored on the day of Ecofest’14 which will be held on the 7th of August.

MARUDHAMALAI CLEAN UP BY TNAU STUDENTS


The Maruthamalai temple and its adjoining areas were cleaned up on Sunday by the students of Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The event was organized around the theme “A new outlook for sustenance” under the National level technical symposium “ Ecofest ‘14” to be conducted in the month of august.
The event witnessed the participation of more than 300 students of B. Tech-Energy and Environmental Engineering and B. Tech-Food Process Engineering along with the professors and the Dean. Dr.C.Divaker Durairaj, Dean(Agricultural Engineering) i/c., personally guided and encouraged the energetic students.
The programme was organized to create awareness among the public about the proper disposal of waste and waste management with special emphasis on sustainability and conservation of natural resources.
The students showed great enthusiasm as they walked around the area to collect wastes and safely dispose them. The wastes were collected and stored in biodegradable bags, which the officials handed over to the municipality. The students requested the public not to pollute the environment by dumping non-biodegradable wastes carelessly, in future. 
Proper safety measures were ensured for the students. They were provided with gloves and mask. The students worked without disturbing the public and their work was greatly appreciated by the HR & CE department of Marudhamalai as well as the public.

Earn while you learn programme- Energy and environmental Engineers-Barefoot Technicians

The students of B.Tech-EEE actively involve in providing solutions to institutions seeking suggestions to switch over to renewable energy. We have visited and offered various suggestions regarding solar energy , biogas,etc to places like ashram, schools, colleges, villages and even tribal areas. We also provide suggestions for replacing conventional fuels with ecofriendly renewable energy technologies. Suggestions to reduce carbon emissions by replacing conventional electricity with solar power are provided. Detailed calculations with load estimation are done and measures to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency are provided. Renewable energy gadgets maintenance is also done . We are glad to help people  willing to conserve energy.
